Actor clothing.

I have thought about the costumes that will be used in my film opening scene and I have decided to fit them in with the urban surrounding and also the different styles of clothing that people wear now a days. I have been looking on the internet and in stores for some ideas of clothing that can be worn by my actors and I have decided on a black coat with a black jumper and a blue t-shirt, with dark denim jeans and black shoes for the actor that is chasing and for the actor that is running away I have decided to use a black hoodie with a white football t-shirt and a dark pair of denim jeans and the shoes will be white.

Audience Profiling

Urban colour scheme for the props and costumes.

I have looked at a wide range of different colours to give that urban like effect and after looking at all of the possible urban colours I have decided that these five different colours with four different shades would be the best colours to use for my urban area in the film that I am making. The colours that are normal linked to being urban are always cold or dark e.g. winter colours and dark colours.

In the odd part of the film that I will be making there is bound to be some more natural colours appear in the background, an example of this would be trees, flowers, sky ect... I may decide to use these colours for my film opening to make it look more urban.

Colour wheels.

I have been looking into the concept of a colour scheme and this meant that I had to have a colour wheel, for the colour wheel I have searched the internet (Google images) and I have found these two colour wheels:

After looking at the colour wheels I have decided to use primary and tertiary colours in my film as a colour scheme, this is because I am going to be basing my film in a built up urban area, this means that I will be using a lot of browns, greys, and white in my opening scene because it will be based in an urban place with lots of buildings ect...

Title ideas.

  • Back with a vengeance
  • Betrayal
  • The missing
  • The inspector
  • Geisel
  • Taken
  • Genommen

These are just a few of many ideas for a name of my film, I have looked at some of the names in different languages e.g. Geisel is German for hostage. Some of these named titles may not work once I have applied them with the opening scene so I will be making my title a working progress, I will test all of the different possibilities for the title and I will also test them.

My Pitch

Rush Hour chase.

Rush Hour chase scene

I have looked at the film ‘Rush Hour’ as a chasing scene because it has an enigma code in it, this is because the baddy gets away, but he leaves a vital piece of evidence behind after the chase. This film stars two very well known actors called Jackie Chan (playing inspector Lee) and Chris Tucker (playing Carter). This chase starts off with Lee looking back and he then spots Juntao (the baddy), Lee then chases Juntao and then Carter follows, the next shot is of Juntao running down an alley way followed by Lee, then Juntao climbs a ladder and pulls it up and Lee then jumps off of a wall and then climbs the ladder and then pushes it down for Carter, the next shot then turns into a fight in an old deserted building, then when Carter comes through the door Juntao runs away and Lee follows with Carter behind, the next clip is of Juntao running on a scaffolding bridge and he then throws an axe, then Juntao runs across a damaged bridge and stumbles and this makes him drop an object, then Lee and Carter go on the bridge and fall through it, finally Juntao gets in a car and Carter opens fire, shooting the car. I may decide to use some of the ideas that have been made in this chase clip from Rush Hour in my opening scene of my film.

The Bourne Supremacy chase

The Bourne Supremacy - Berlin Foot Chase

I have looked at the film ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ for inspiration for a chase to include into my film opening. The clip that I have chosen is a very good example of a chase, this is because it is action packed and thrills the audience. This chase starts off with Jason Bourne in a dark room looking at a mirror, then the phone rings and there is a shot of armed police officers running up the stairs, after that the next shot is of Jason’s view through a spy whole in the door and the police are running by, then there is a shot of the police stopping outside the door Jason is in and they the breach the door looking for Jason (this starts the chase, next the audience see Jason climbing up the drain pipes onto the roof, then there is another shot of the police looking for him, then they breach other doors, after that Jason runs up some stairs in the roof of the building and runs along the roof, next there is a shot of a 4X4 pulling up and the passenger gets out and works through the crowd, and then the audience see Jason walking through the streets and crowds... then he is at a subway running away and the final part of the chase is when he jumps off of a bridge onto a boat and then gets back onto the train. I may decide to use some of the ideas that have been used in this chase for my opening scene of the film.

Casino Royale opening scene.

I have looked at the film ‘Casino Royale’ as the opening scene in this film is very interesting and it caught my eye, this is because of the editing and the camera work. This scene is in black and white and this could be showing a memory or something that has happened in the past. In this clip there is a deleted scene and it is at a cricket ground and then there is a chase (the deleted scene ends at the point when James Bond and fights the other man). I chose this clip because of the deleted scene chase and the opening, it starts off with a person walking into his office where James Bond is waiting for him and then James tells the man how one of his special agents has died, then there is a deleted scene and i really like the techniques that are used in this scene, the deleted scene starts off with a man who spots James Bond and runs away constantly looking behind and then James Bond casually appears, then there is a fighting scene and it refers back to in the office... then James bond kills the man in the office and that is the end of the opening scene. I may use some of these techniques in my film because I like the ideas that have been used in this opening scene.

Hot Fuzz end fight scene.

I have looked at the film ‘Hot Fuzz’ and I have chosen to look into the fight scene at the end of the film, this is because it is a simple idea, but it is very effective for a fight scene. The reasons that I chose this clip are: there is a perfect example of a car chase and a fighting scene.

In the fighting scene there are lots of different camera angles and the editing is very fast, also there are a few slow motion parts in the scene (all of these editing effects build up the tension with the audience.

I think that all of the camera work and the editing is very good and I may consider using some of these camera shots in the film that I am making.

The Dark Knight bank robery.

YouTube link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR1pDnrdS0o

I have began to look into this clip of ‘The Dark Knight’ because it i think that there are a few interesting ideas such as: all of the bank robbers are wearing clown masks and they are all different, they are all wearing the same clothing, they all don’t trust each other and they also want more of the money, they are after money and the robbery is all planed. Then near the end one of the characters reveal their identity (The Joker), this is a good example of an enigma code and also makes the audience want to carry on watching the film. This is a perfect example of a film opening and I may use some of these ideas later on when I am making my film.

What I found inspiring

I have collected the clip from the dark knight off of YouTube and I have been studying the contents of this clip. In this clip I have found a few things very interesting and they have all inspired me, the first thing that inspired me was looking at the clothing of all the bank robbers were wearing and I like the idea of matching clothing and then having different clown masks, the next thing that inspired me Was that all of the bank robbers were killing each other off (possibly so they get a bigger share of the money), I also liked the idea of some of the employees at the bank fighting back and finally at the end of the clip there is a school bus that appears and the joker then puts all of the money on the bus and drives off, then there is an image of about several busses driving along (this is the perfect get away).
